In production and development, Open source as a development model promotes a universal access via a free licence to a product’s design or blueprint, and universal redistribution of that design or blueprint, including subsequent improvements to it by anyone.

In France, the Open Source economy represents a 2.5 million euros and 30 000 jobs. 300 companies of an average number of 10 employees actualy florish in this time of crisis. 68 % of these companies were growing ones in 2012.

The world of developers is one of the most active on this prosper market, generaly promoting a lot of new Open Source solution in a wide number of fields.
All the websites we are just about to present have a common point : what is called open can be understood as free. For all the other services these companies offer, you will have to put money on the table ! No doupt !

One of the pioneer and cornerstone of the Open Source world. With its particularity of being a social network, Github unables sharing, downloading, getting any code of any available Open Source project. End of 2013, Github had 10 milion projects going on on its website.
Travis is a non stop integrating service able to check after each code modification, that the result of these modifications doesn’t produce regressions on the application being developed.
Langage compatibility : C, C++, Clojure, Erlang, Go, Groovy, Haskell, Java, JavaScript, Perl, PHP, Python, Ruby et Scala.
Code Climate unables to follow the quality of your application’s code giving a note to each files of your program. This functionality is based on several algorrthms capable to determine if your code is complex and understandable.

Gemnasium checks the dependencies between your different code’s libraries and gets it updated. Gemnasium informs you by e-mail when a new and stable version is available. Very convenient when it comes to security and bug managing.

Phonegap is a builder app for smartphones. It is based on Javascript, HTML5 and CSS. Phonegap builder is an Adobe service building Open Source apps freely and automaticaly.

Obviously these exemples of Open Source solutions are not the ones and only. You will surely find in the Open Source constelation the one you need !
